Wasgamuwa Sri Lanka

The Wasgamuwa National Park is located 225 km from Colombo in the Matale and Polonnaruwa Districts. The area has the highest recorded biodiversity in the island, with over a 150 floral species and a wide variety of fauna. The area is also an important meeting point for elephants and large herds can be seen roaming the plains. The park is home to variety of rare indigenous species like the purple-faced langur and toque macaque monkeys, axis deer, Sri Lanka leopard, sloth bear, the rare golden palm civet and a host of migratory birds.
