Peak Wilderness Sri Lanka

The "Sri Pada" Peak Wilderness sanctuary is a tropical rain forest covering 224 square kilometers around the Sri Pada (Adam's Peak) mountain. The park has a distinctly different landscape from most other parks of its kind, due to an undulating landscape that varies from 1000 to 7360 feet above sea level. The landscapes peculiar contour gives rise to interesting microclimates and results in fascinating pockets of biodiversity. BenaSamanala (6579 ft.) andDotalugala, Detanagala are some of the taller peaks in the region, there are also a host great lakes and tributaries scattered throughout the expanse, with tributaries from the Mahaweli river, giving rise to the Dotalu falls, Geradi falls, Galagama falls (655 ft), and Mapanana falls (330 ft.) located within the sanctuaries confines.
